Emile Henry Bakeware is manufactured to exacting standards by talented craftspeople in the small French town of Marcigny, just as it has been for over 150 years. Using traditional techniques and new innovations like their exclusive Ceradon process, Emile Henry produces ceramic pieces that are not only beautiful but provide exceptional performance as well. Each piece begins with mineral-rich Burgundy clay that distributes heat slowly and evenly, right to the center of the dish for better, more uniform cooking. It retains heat well and keeps food hot longer than glass or metal bakeware. The ceramic can withstand large changes in temperature without damage, going straight from the freezer to a hot oven with ease and is highly resistant to mechanical shocks, surviving bumps and knocks without chipping or cracking. The glaze is extremely strong, resisting scratches and crazing, and can even be used as a cutting surface without suffering any damage. In addition, food doesn’t stick to the glazed surface, and the pieces are easy to clean either by hand or in the dishwasher.
